Visiting a city by bike is a wonderful way to spend a couple of days. Not only do you have the freedom to visit exactly where you choose, but there’s also none of the hassle and expense of parking a car.

Not to mention that you’ve got a great excuse to eat as much as you like because you’re burning off the calories. San Francisco is a city that’s really taken a push towards becoming more sustainable and cycling is a simple way to be a more responsible tourist.

Visit the Chase Centre

The Chase Centre is the home of the Golden State Warriors who are currently playing well, though perhaps not well enough to win the NBA this year. Nonetheless, they are a great team to watch in action if you’re able to get tickets! Conveniently the Chase Centre offers a free bike valet service, so you can be sure your bike is safe for the duration of the game and will be waiting for you once you’re finished. If you’re not so much of a basketball fan then try to coincide your visit with one of their many concerts. Owing to the size of the venue they often host major acts like Billie Eilish and Post Malone.

Join Up with a Tour

Cementing itself as a city that’s almost designed for green tourism, San Francisco has a handful of interesting bike tours to join up with. A particularly delicious one to take part in is the Mission Food & Murals tour which is organised by the Dandyhorse San Francisco Bike Tours. This tour is led by locals to the area who’ll show you exciting new street art, as well as cheap and delicious eateries that are a little off the beaten track. Once you’ve stopped for a halfway ‘re-fuel’ you can decide to carry on with the rest of the group or to cycle off to your next adventure on your own.

Mojo Bicycle Cafe

If you did decide to go your own way after the Food & Murals tour then consider popping into the Mojo Bicycle Cafe. This quirky joint will grease up your chain and pump up your wheels whilst you stop for a snack. There are plenty of serious cyclists here, so if you have a soft spot for amped-up bikes then leave yourself a little time to look around. Depending on the time of day you can opt for a beer or a silky smooth coffee. They also have a delicious food menu but be warned, they don’t accept card so remember to save those coins.
